As some astronomers would say, they look like novas but in fact they aren’t. These are the photos that I took during New Year’s, around midnight, from my apartment overlooking San Jose.

My trip to Cincinnati is really coming to an end real fast and one photo I wanted to get was of the city at night so I decided to leave my hotel room and take a walk to Newport so that I could setup my tripod and take that shot that has probably been taken many times before.
I left the hotel early so that I could walk across the bridge but plans were changed after I found myself at the football stadium…so yeah I took a wrong turn…ok…maybe two wrong turns. So I walked to the middle of the Bailey Bridge to take a shot of the city and then walked back to head across the Roebling Suspension Bridge for the photo that I wanted…and that is a huge walk but still worth it.

On my way home from work I kept looking at the beautiful moon that was out but kept seeing it covered by heavy clouds or in some angles by light clouds but when I got off the cab at my house I looked up and was amazed at the fact that from that angle the moon wasn't covered by any of the clouds so I had to take a shot.
Originally I had planed to take the shot from the street in front of my house which would just have been the moon and the front of the house…well part of it but I was amazed when I saw out the window of the second floor of my house so I had to get on the roof of my house so I could get that shot which had the light of the moon reflected on the roofs of the other houses…so up we go and this is what came out of that adventure:
