Privacy??
Today I read an article that talked about Google’s new service, the StreetView service that they recently added to their Maps service, and it was basically about a concern that a lady has about privacy and how that began to generate a lot of buzz around the subject.
I know that this is somewhat of a difficult subject to discuss, so before you go criticizing me on this comment, I would just like to say that this is my point of view and it should only be taken as that. After all we are all allowed to speak our minds out, right?
So like I was saying. People are concerned about their privacy and how other people and companies are trying to violate their right to privacy. Well, in my opinion, there is no real privacy outside your mind, why? well because anything you do or say outside your mind can be heard or read by anyone at any time, so where’s the real privacy there?
If I post something here or on a private forum it can be read by anyone, if I have a window in my house that faces the street anyone can see to the inside of my house or when I’m out in the public anyone can see me and hear what I say. The article that I mentioned earlier mentioned the case of a lady that was concerned because if she zoomed in enough to her apartment building then she was able to see her cat through the window, well I saw the picture and if no one mentioned that there was a cat there I would have never seen it and I’m still doubting that what you see on the window is really a cat, because you also see the reflection of the tree that is in front of the window. I guess people are just paranoid because of what has been happening lately in the world and that they generate a lot of noise because of this.
I guess that this is one of the reasons that the stuff that has been happening in the world is happening, because people are afraid of what’s out there, afraid of the person next to you, afraid of what can happen and specially afraid of what people might or are thinking of them or any of their actions. Everytime I hear something about privacy, specially someone talking about how their privacy is violated because of a new service that a big company has created or because another person is writing about something, I simply find it amusing and stupid that people actually think that there is any privacy outside their minds. When I hear stuff like that is generally something that makes no sense, like for example that article that I read, well your solution is simply to put up a curtain or blinds and not open your window or better yet get rid of the window all together.
When a country’s government creates laws that “deal” with this, it simply adds to the stupidity of the population, because it doesn’t actually solve the problem it just makes it worst by allowing people to misinterpret the situation and believe something else that is not real. I heard about a law in some country that made it illegal to walk naked around your house and that there was another law that made it illegal to peak inside through the window of another person’s house, well I guess I can still walk naked around my house, because if someone goes to the authorities with the complain then I’ll simply sue them because they were looking through the windows of my house. Now who would risk getting sued for that just because I saw my neighbor walking around his house naked? I know I wouldn’t.
I guess that in the end, you have your privacy as long as you’re in a place where no one else can see you, otherwise don’t even bother talking about it, because if it can be viewable by the world, then there is no privacy there to argue about.
And that is my opinion.
